Caps for angle? I found a few places online but the minimum qty is very large. Is this something a hardware store or home depot or lowes might sell? Maybe an online source I havent found yet?I made a small patio table and would like to cap the ends to protect the flooring. Thanks
Reply:Maybe dipping them in that tool coating stuff would work?
Reply:find someone that sells bed frames. you might even be able to find them at a big box hardware store. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger
Reply:I think the small amount of surface area involved in the contact area would push through the plastic caps in a fairly short period of time.  You may want to weld some type of plate to the bottom of the leg and find a rubber cover for that.
Reply:Yeah i agree they'll rub thru quick. But I dont intend to move it around much. Just something to keep it protected if it gets bumped by the dog, or me after a few beers etc...The patio is painted concrete so it wouldnt be the end of the world if it got scratched or anything. Just figured if it was something easy to find that I'd slap em on there.
Reply:Mc Master Carrhttp://www.mcmaster.com/#angle-caps/=l17rxpI'm betting if I dig a bit more I'll find others there as well under some other heading. Graingers probably has some also. One thing to keep in mind on  concrete patios and covered ends of steel, is that they will tend to hold water and form rust. If you wear the plastic a bit you'll end up with rust stains on the concrete...  The dip it stuff at least seals so water doesn't get in and start to rust. Take it from someone who spent years dealing with stamped concrete patios. No matter how many times we warned people about steel patio furniture and rust, we'd always be getting calls about how to get rid of rust stains on the concrete because people didn't listen. Heavy plastic or rubber feet are the way to go to minimize these issues..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Thanks DSW! Can't beat qty:100 1-inchers  for $12! Just my luck though I made this particular table with all 1" angle but the legs with 1-1/4" angle. I'll go ahead and order the 1" and the 1-1/2" though. I got a few more projects coming up where i'll need those sizes. My patio is covered so water shouldn't  be an issue for this particular one but I'll definitely keep that in mind for stuff that will be outside in the weather. I have some West Systems 2 part epoxy. Maybe a quick dip in some of that and then capping em will do the trick.
Reply:Just Googled 1 1/4" angle caphttp://www.lowes.com/pd_129633-37672...ductId=3438502http://www.fastenal.com/web/search/p...le%20Caps%22|~.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:why don't you weld some feet on instead of putting that cheesy plastic on your nice table?

Reply:If you choose to do squares or whatever on the bottoms, I'd attach either plastic sliders or the screw on feet to deal with the rust/scratches thing..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:So weld some small squares at the bottom of each leg with a through hole and a nut welded on top.  Then you can thread in an adjustable height plastic or rubber foot.http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-levelers/=l1a01e
Reply:Has anyone actually used these angle caps? If so, did they wear out very quickly? Hmmm decisions decisions. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. This forum rocks! I'll chew on it a bit more before I make a decision.
Reply:An alternative would be to paint the ends with Plastidip. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
Reply:Weld a nut to the inside of the angle and buy some leveling feethttp://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-le...mounts/=l1cbd6This eliminates metal contact with floor and allows you to level the table if the floor is uneven.
Reply:triangle shaped pad welded on each leg then if you are still worried buy some small rubber pads that mount thru a hole and drill a hole. Reply:Try these guys.  They will send you free samples.  I would weld a sort piece of square tube inside the bottom of the leg, and then use their threaded tube inserts and a leveller.   Or weld a nut to the bottom and just user a leveller foot.Sent from my C771 using Tapatalk
Reply:Hi, Buck.I have been pleased with Reid Supply Company.  They will let you order in small quantities and good prices for all kinds of shapes. I have used their plastic tube plugs and for what you want to do, I would recommend them. I don't know if they have caps for angle iron, but I would call them if I couldn't find on-line.www.reidsupply.comBurt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com
