Hello all, brand new to welding and I am really enjoying the learning process. This forum has been a fantastic resource and great inspiration so thanks to all of you who post your projects, and those of you who contribute regularly with constructive critiques. I am learning fast because of you. This is my first real project, welded up with my HF Dual Mig 170, all fluxcore, and all ground off so no one would have to see my first pitiful attempts. Legs are 2" inch angle, 1/8" thick, tiles are held by a frame of 1" angle and 1" flat, all 1/8" thick....they just rest in there, although the fit is pretty snug. Some 1/4" round creates the arch, skinned with sheet metal salvaged from an old filing cabinet. The pi****elf is bent and welded sheet metal (same filing cabinet) braced with 1/4" round in the corners and edges. expanded metal for the top and internal grate. I designed the size of the project around it being able to hold a single 6hr "firelog", one of those compressed saw dust and fuel deals that leave a very small amount of ash.A million and one little flaws in this thing, but since it was Christmas gift for the mother in law, she pretended not to notice  I am ridiculously proud of it as my first project. I can't wait to get started on something else. I am more than open to suggestions and critique...Thanks for looking and sorry for the low quality cell phone pics. I'll break out the real camera before I give my stuff away next time. Attached Images
Reply:Very nice looking pit table. Is it intended for an open flame fire under it, or are you going to run gas burners under it.JobSmart MIG125Lincoln AC225-SLincoln Pro-Mig 175Dewalt GrindersRidgid ChopsawIR Garage Mate CompressorAny thing worth doing, is worth doing right.

Reply:Sounds like he plans to use Presto logs in that unit.Nice job. It looks really well done. Trust me you'll always be the one who can spot your errors. It gets worse the better you become..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Just pitched one to my wife and she was a go. Got a bunch of sparkly flag stones from a friend a while back and we didn't know what to do with them because there wasn't enough for a path or anything like that. I think this will do the trick nicely. and she's on board. one more project for this summer. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger
