Reply:I dont know about the torches, but I have a set of rego gauges (built in the mid 1940's with dates stamped on them) I got 40 years ago and had rebuilt soon after. I also have a victor set which took a dump on me 10 years ago and a backup set of uniweld gauges. The rebuilders used to be parsons and they told me the regos had brass diaphrams and if I took care of them they would last forever. I stopped using them when I got the victors (garage sale $7bucks the set, lasted 5-6 years). Only problem with the regos is you need a donkey to carry them around, they are large! Even have the rego brand wrench for them, big iron number, make that rented donkey work I have a victor 'j-27' torch (I think they call it an aircraft torch) I bought a cutting handle for it 25 tears ago cost as I recall about $85-90 bucks. If that torch 'feels' good in your hand, I would pay to get it fixed.   -corne-  (most everything I have is old (now), acquired new & used, that has always worked for me.
Reply:Thanks for the referral DSW!!!The torch is still repairable, but cutting tips will be hard to find for it.  Most LWS do not stock them and will not go to the effort to order them for you.  A standard rebuild on this torch runs about $50.00 plus return shipping.  We will be happy to get tips for you as well.Let me know if I can help!JimOAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
Reply:Rego-style tips can be found online.http://www.atlweldingsupply.com/Rego...ips_c_657.htmlThese adapters are also an option:http://www.atlweldingsupply.com/Rego...r_c_482-1.htmlhttp://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=49243I like doing business with ATL.
Reply:Thanks for the help Jim or OAdoctor .I'm very interested in it getting it rebuilt. Also i have a old craftsmen regulator that i would also like to get rebuilt. Just curious how much would it cost for  the torch and the regulator. And if you can could you explain the shipping process? Thanks againMillermatic 211 with mvp plugs miller titanium series welding helmetstihl chain saws 8 ft welding table
Reply:Depends on the manufacturer of the regulator.  Really old ones can not be rebuilt.  Part are obsolete.  The newer one are made by Harris and can be rebuilt.  Post a picture and can determine which equipment you have.JimOAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com

Reply:The Craftsman regulator can not be rebuilt.  Part were obsolete for these regulators when  I started in the gas apparatus repair business over 15 years ago.  As for the Rego torch and other equipment, simply click on the link below.  Complete the form and send it in with your equipment.  Once we inspect the equipment, we will send you a Pay Pal invoice via e-mail.  You can pay with Pay Pal or call with a Credit Card.  After your payment info is received we rebuild the equipment and ship it back, usually in 3 -4 days.http://http://www.regulatortorchrepa...tworkorder.pdfAs to the tip for the Rego, while they are still made by several tip manufacturers, you will have to order them.  Very few LWS will have them in stock.OAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
Reply:I'd Ebay the Craftsman regulator. There are Sears collectors out there and they may want it for parts such as the branded gauges. Wipe off the label goo on the high pressure side gauge before taking Ebay pics.
Reply:Thanks for the helpful advice and info. Also is there anyway that you can add like like a red circle for act and a green circle for oxygen so i don't get confused ? And about how much should the rebuilding  cost me ? thanks againMillermatic 211 with mvp plugs miller titanium series welding helmetstihl chain saws 8 ft welding table
Reply:The threads are handed so your hose can only connect one way.
Reply:Thanks. now thinking about it makes senseMillermatic 211 with mvp plugs miller titanium series welding helmetstihl chain saws 8 ft welding table
Reply:I have a pair of old Rego 3-stage regulators (yes, that's not a typo) which I use on my propane-burning meat smokers. They hold pressure amazingly well even way down in the sub-psi range with the low pressure meter pegged on zero. Yes, they're built like a tank. Very very cool regulators. If the above facility doesn't bring you joy, try Seattle's:Hansen & Miller4101 Leary Way NWSeattle, WA 98107206-782-8842These guys do all the pro rebuild work around the whole Pacific Northwest. If you go to a chain LWS and drop off something to be repaired it will wind up at Hansen & Miller anyway, you'll just pay double through the LWS so go direct. They don't have a Web site. Call 'em up. Mon-Fri business hours. Worth it. Great guys.metalmagpie
