Miller/Hobart XLix Hood no longer works.

My hood no longer works, if you push the on/off/reset button it does nothing at all.  I have tried leaving it out in the sun for hours and it still does nothing.  Are there any tricks to getting it working again? Can I simply replace the batteries?  Or should I send it back to Hobart/Miller?  I really dont feel comfortable taking it apart cause I dont want to break anything, but if there are some tips on taking it apart and some troubleshooting I would appreciate it.
Reply:I am not familiar iwth the auto dark hoods specifically..but of the ones Ive used it seems miller used batteries.  If it does, you should be able to replace the batteries.  Again if you find this isnt the fix send it back and tell them they need to either replace repair or give a real good explanation of why it died....they are rather expensive after all.IF it Catches...Let it Burn
Reply:No local welding shop you can run it into? Those guys are generally clamoring over the counter to help on things like that. Lets them strut their stuff, so to speak.
