Little help with welder choice

Hi Everybody, I looking to buy my welder and I need little advice I'm looking to get a miller 211 or 210 preference used one but I found a Lincoln 255 with cylinder included... Now anybody have any experience with Lincoln 255? I'm just for home/hobby projects Thanks for ur help!

Reply:How about a esab 300 multi.  Pretty happy with the ones we have at work, and with tig, arc, and infinate controls of heat and speed, its almost a given.
Reply:Buy used with a bottle, be careful with the supplier though, 255 is big for a hobby welder, before I went commercial mine did great... My 220 Hobart mig has done its duty. I have hit the duty cycle a few times, but you cant beat it for the price. Reply:i have a miller 210 and love it.  worked great thus far.  i was thinking about selling my 210 to buy a 211 but the duty cycle is just not near what the 210 can do.  not worth the trade off for my position.

Reply:My first option was 211 MVP but I really wand 210 or bigger and by the way 4-5 years back I was proud owner of millermatick 251 great machine. I found few welder closed at my location 1; Lincoln 255 no bottle $ 12002; Lincoln 255 with bottle $ 1200 but nobody answer the phone!Few hours away 210 $ 1000 no bottle I'm gonna keep looking for more options.!

Reply:I'm considering the lincoln 225(w/no bottle) x $ 1200 this are close to my area and maybe I can rent the bottle
Reply:This is a silly question, how the welding wire get rusted (roll of wire was in the welder)???
Reply:Wire in the welder or not, moisture is still in the air and when it gets on the wire it will rust. If you dont use the welder alot store the wire in a dry location. Some guys even clamp a scotchbrite pad the wire before the feeder to help clean it up. Good luck with the welder hunt.
Reply:Well just found few welders 210 miller w/bottle $1100255 Lincoln w/Bottle $ 1000 Both owners say welders are 4-5 years old and both are in LA  area just few hours away from my place. Found another just an hour from my placeLincoln 255 no bottle $ 1200 and no way to test the welder (no wire no bottle )Weather are bad rithg now but tomorrow will see which one survive for me!
Reply:The 210 is a older model, not the auto set. Current 212 in my area i2 $1625.00.The 211 is $1025. My local supplier has sold so many 211's he can't keep track. Last 212 sold he thinks was about 6 or 8 months ago.         It is amazing how much they try to get for a older welder with no warranty.

Reply:OK, easy answer. Get the 211 AND Hypertherm Powermax 45 Plasma Cutter . Now you'll be set. Get both at same time and a125/150  tank;  package deal and be done . It's only YOUR money !

Just gonna update, finally i got my welder is a Miller 212 (non auto set) the guy say not using for while, welder look great (dust included) he plug in and run fine the test was ok I tell the guy to stop welding because I notice the wire look bad(same rust on wire) so now I'm going to buy new Welding wire and I'm 100%! Sure the liner need replace it, ah and included a big bottle of gas C-25 I think is 250 cf almost full and extra extension cord for the welder( packet deal ) Then I found  Jet HVBS-56M 5-by-6-Inch 1/2 HP Horizontal/Vertical BandsawI test it and work great, I have brand new Makita metal cut saw but make lot of sparks and noise so I think this little bandsaw is better for now.Plasma cutter is Next in line! Reply:Glad to see you found you a welder you like and can use. It's nice to see you came back to show what you ended up with. A lot of times when someone comes on here asking for advice on what machine to get, they will get lots of good suggestions and then we never hear from them again, and it makes you wonder what ever became of them and the advice they were given. You never know what was finally decided, they just disappear.Now that you have a welder, show us what you can make with it.FYI, you can put up to 5 pictures in one post, no need to make a seperate post for each picture.
Reply:Awesome ! That sure looks like a heck of a deal.  You'll love that band saw. I bought the cheap harbor freight 4''x6'' band saw many years ago. Best $115.00 bucks I spent. It was like $170.00 and I had a 30% off coupon. I got my money out of it already.      Have fun with new toys !
Reply:I upload this pic from my iPhone I don’t know why but I can upload one at the time.am going to create another thread for a 16' ft. boat trailer and I want to convert to flat bed.rebuild my welding table. made small welding table, yeah I have to many projects to do.with little time after my full time job and my side job, that’s why I brought my 5” x 6”  band saw less noise and not sparkswell I need to made extra $$$ to buy more steel.thanks fellas for your advice..! trailer project is next.
