I have a syncrowave 250, water cooled ck200, foot pedal, all the fixins for a transformer machine. I got called back to work the other day and went in. When i picked up the wp17 i felt like I was holding a tractor trailer in my hand. The sync is my first foot pedal machine, i learned on scratch start/lift arc and never had remote control, and BOY did it make a difference on the job the other day. I wasn't use to scratching and having full amperage, took me about 45 mins to get back into the swing of things. I'm surprised I didn't blow through any tubes. If I got that use to a pedal and small torch in that short of time, its easy to understand why these great welders from fab shops do so bad out in the field sometimes. Just felt like sharing that with some other welders.ESAB MigMaster 275Miller Econotwin HFMiller Syncrowave 250
Reply:I learned to TIG with a pedal too and when I went to try scratch start I had a heck of a time. It seemed like I practically needed a crowbar to pull the tungsten off the work, and when I pulled hard enough to free it, I ended up yanking the torch too far from the work and broke the arc. It definitely takes some getting used to.
Reply:I learned scratch start on a car alternator setup with no pedal and a home made torch. Ha! Then I added a pedal to that setup and it made a world of difference. Now I have an Airco Heliwelder IV with a small torch and I'm spoiled by it. I don't know if I could still do scratch start or not.Brad GeorgeCurrent Equipment:AIRCO Heliwelder IV 300Amp Model - Total Awesomeness!Old 120v Hobart Handler MIGVarious grinders, cutting tools, hammers, clamps, ect..."I'm an amateur welder with lots left to learn..."
Reply:You think a 17 air cooled is big try an 18 water cooled job, we called it the club.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:Miller has developed a new torch to go along with thier new Dynasty280. It is really slim and we have been welding with it up to 350 amps. I have a demo installed on a Dynasty 350 now and fits a woman's hand really well. That station I have a lady on it and she is always looking for extra small gloves.Anyway it is available as the  Weldcraft WP280 water cooled torch. It uses the specific parts listed for the Crafter series torches only, as we found out unfortunately.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
