Plasma cutters

I have a question I just picked up a used plasma cutter and was wondering from looking at the owners manual do you drag the tip across the material while cutting or should it be off of it?Will   Supports Autism Awareness                            My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .
Reply:The tip shouldn't touch, but should be very close.
Reply:On some you do actually drag the tip...they are called drag tips.  Others you dont.  Unfortunately, it depends which type tip you have and whether your plasma has drag tips available.  If you maintain a slight gap...maybe the thickness of a penny, either type tip will cut pretty well.  Check the part number on the tip and contact the manufacturer to find out if there are any drag tips available for it.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
