my father in law has a lincoln weld pak 100 that he currently runs flux core on. He wants to get a gas setup for it. i know he needs the regulater hose and a tank . I think the welder comes setup for gas. My question is is the gas solenoid come with the welder or is that something i need to purchase. I thought the welder has it in it but im not sure. thanks
Reply:I dont believe it has one. Go to your lws and they can order you a gas kit with everything you need. Its a easy install.
Reply:Here's what you need for the conversion.http://www.ebay.com/itm/LINCOLN-MIG-...item53e5eb5a33Keep in mind, you will only have the capacity to weld 14 gauge steel thickness with the mig setup, (according to the manual), so make sure & hang on to the liner that you take out, in case you need to use fluxcore again. The capacity with fluxcore is 1/4 inch steel.Last edited by lstilts; 09-20-2012 at 10:37 AM.Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.

Reply:Hey SMW: Let us know how it works for your father in law, and some sample photos too, if you can please. I was planning to switch over to gas too next month on my weld pak. I have been using mine for the last eight months using flux core only, my primary use welder.Agape GuyEverlast Power I-MIG 200 (dual voltage)Everlast PowerArc 200 stickHarbor Freight Titanium 125 Easy FluxHypertherm Powermax 30Way too many power tools
Reply:I upgraded mine years ago and went with the kit as well. For single pass, the max is listed as 14 gauge for gas and 12 gauge for flux. I never tried anything as large as 1/4" with it, so I am not sure how many passes that would require. I used gas for sheet metal and switched to flux for thicker steel.MIG and Plasma
Reply:Here are a few welds with the weld pak 100 converted to mig, .025 argon/co2 75/25, regulator set @ 14 scfh, amps, tap D, wire speed 7. The top four beads are pulling left to right, the bottom four are pushing right to left. The second pic is one side of a T joint. This was 1/8" mild steel. Reply:Here are a few more, this is an old lawnmower blade, apx. .180" thick, changed wire speed to 5, everything else the same as above, these were pulling the puddle from left to right. Attached ImagesMastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.
Reply:for those interested i did by the kit off ebay. it was on my door step in 2 days, was a sinch to put in and of course really made the welder weld alot smoother.
Reply:I got mine in 1995, it has been a great investment. Practice a lot & enjoy!Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power. |
