I decided a while ago that my secondhand craftsman belt sander was kind of gutless, and swapped out the 3/4 taiwanese ponies for 1.5 Baldor American ponies. I've gotten a bit sick of swapping belts to go from coarse to fine polish, and decided that if I found another similar belt sander i'd really like to put two opposing belts on this stand.A couple days ago I was at an industrial surplus place and found a belt sander that the stand had gotten a bit bent up and was missing the disc, presumably got hit by a forklift or tipped over or something. After some haggling I took it, a big 56C frame PMDC motor, a big chunk of aluminum channel and some 3MT-3JT adapters BNIB home for $200.Yesterday I got the wild hair to build it up on the stand and split power so I only had one cord to plug in to use both.
