Hey, I'm trying to get into welding for a project I'm working on and I want to make sure I know proper safety before I start welding.  I bought myself a lot of equipment and protection and the torch I'm using, uses oxygen and MAP-Pro.  Here are the questions I have.1.) As the torch says that it could cause a flash back if I have both MAP-Pro and oxygen flowing and lit and I shut off the MAP-Pro first, leaving the oxygen flowing, what happens if I run out of MAP-Pro while welding?  Would it explode?  Is there a way to look at the flame and see if the gas is running too low to prevent that issue?2.) I bought a couple flashback arrestors to connect to the tanks so that if something should go wrong, then they will shut off off the fuel.  What happens if the MAP-Pro flash back shuts off and leaves the oxygen going?  Would that explode?3.)  I'm storing the oxygen and MAP-Pro in the basement and I'd imagine that it would be safe down there as long as it doesn't leak.  I don't have a tool shed or I'd put it in there.  Is there a safer place to put these and what is the coldest and hottest temperature that I can safely store these cylinders at?4.) I bought a Bernzomatic OX2550 and the below flashback arrestors.  Would they work well together?  I'm pretty sure they will, but it says not to modify the torch I bought except with approved parts.  To me that means that I need to either know what I'm doing when I swap out parts, or pay for their company's parts.  So, I figure I'll confirm it with everyone here before risking my head.  lolFlashback arrestors: http://www.ebay.com/itm/370607577869...84.m1439.l2649Ox2550: http://findnsave.sacbee.com/Product/...atic-Torch-Kit5.) If I'm doing fine without the oxygen, do I need to use oxygen for any reason?  I'd imagine not since it just makes it burn hotter as fire needs oxygen to survive.Basically I'm trying to eliminate as much of a chance of explosion as possible.  Thanks again for your help and if you have any advice for a first time welder, I'd appreciate it.
Reply:I was under the impression that you couldn't gas weld with anything but Acetylene due to hydrogen inclusions. You can cut with MAPP, you can braze with it, you can't get a good weld with it.Lincoln 175HD
Reply:OK that sucks.  Steel is my choice metal to work with...  As I'm more comfy with electricity than with gasses, I'll return my torch and get myself an arc welder.  That issue actually solved a lot of issues I was having with it being gas as well.  With electricity, I don't need to be careful of pilot lights and such, so I can use the basement instead of waiting to get a house with a garage.  Thanks for the heads up!  =)

Reply:I'm building the skeletal work for an AI person.  As this is electricity instead of fire based welding, I can do it outside without having to deal with the fire blowing out, so I'll do that instead of the basement.  It'll be cooler under all my gear that way, too.  =)Oh, and I don't know the modem yet, but tomorrow Home Depot will have their $99 model in stock and I'll buy that one.
