We just received these this week at my job. Anyone have experience with either of these machines? I don't have dies for the bender yet, but we have been toying with the roller a bit and it seems to trip the circuit breaker in the control panel every once in a while. Not under heavy load, just aluminum. But it doesn't happen all the time. Our power supply in the building isn't the greatest, maybe thats it?Bill Attached Images

Reply:Well, you couldn't have gotten a better brand tube bender than RMD!  Are they going to get you a good assortment of dies?  That's where the big bucks come in - expect to pay close to a grand a set for anything above 1.75" od x 6" CLR.  RMD makes really nice benders - but maybe I'm biased since I know the guy that started the company and designs the machines!Last edited by TubularFab; 07-10-2006 at 08:29 AM.
Reply:I used one of those rollers for bimini bows on boats - draw a center line and use vice grips on the pipe to keep it straight - ours used to give you a wonderful twist if you didn't keep the work straight manually.MM 175 w/ spoolgun
Reply:Yeah I have been battling a twist. Luckily its aluminum. Also for boats. Small world.Bill
Reply:Bill - We used annodized alluminum - smaller softtops would get 3/4" - bigger ones 1" - both would twist. Keeping it straight with vicegrips gets you 99% there, you may need one or two tweaks at the hip bender. Now a days most owners want the molded fiberglass tops - no bimini bows needed there....I worked for a place called PipeWelders, the NJ plant has since turned over and is now called PipeTowers.MM 175 w/ spoolgun
