I started this project years ago and has been on the back burner for quite some time. I have the time now and a use for the machine. The generator is a General Electric 30volt 400 Amp unit The engine I'm using to drive it is out of a chevette. I have an old Miller model AH20-6 spool gun setup that I plan on rigging up to the machine for welding aluminum. I plan on running an air compressor as well. Dragged it into the garage a few days ago. The stilts it's sitting on are temporary for ease of working on it from all angles. I will be mounting tires on it and a hitch for moving it around the yard. Heres some pics Attached Images

Reply:correction the spool gun is a airco midget.I had used it years ago on a motor driven cc machine and it welded very nicly so i should be able to make it work on this application. Making progress today
Reply:Cool project..I absolutely love stuff like this!
Reply:I learned to stick weld on an old motor/generator welder that had been built from a Ford Model B engine and a surplus aircraft generator. It was DC only, built on a trailer that was made from the Ford front axle and part of the frame. It was huge, and the smoothest stick welder that I've ever used. I think it was built just after WWII. I wish I had it, or at least a picture of it.CharleyMiller MM252Miller Bobcat 225NTMiller DialArc HF / DIY Cooler2 Victor O/A TorchsetsMilwaukee 8" Metal SawMilwaukee Dry Cut "Chop" Saw 5 Ton Wallace Gantry Various Grinders, Benders, etc.
