Reply:Thanks for that link. Bob Phillips has had an amazing career out of telling great stories around Texas like this one. I'm bookmarking that video so I can show it to anyone who questions my sanity for fixing up the old stuff.PapaLincoln Idealarc 250 (circa 1962)Lincoln Weldpak 155 w/Mig KitLincoln Squarewave TIG 175

Reply:Awesome vid, thanks! I just wonder, is it the "no overhead" that lets them survive? I mean, I can't imagine they could charge enough to feed three families. Reply:Great piece of history...hopefully they will be around for another 100 years...
Reply:Nice to see the respect they have for each other. When I was a kid there was a machine shop in town, it had a "Jack Shaft" the full length of the building. Everything was driven off it by belts like in the video. These are some pics of a 50 ton, mechanical press that came out of that shop. I plan to clean it up and paint it for the museum. Reply:I'm standing in a machine shop in Texas right now lol I would love to work at that old shop instead of all these computer driven soulless beasts I'm around ....any time I get to work on any large or mill that is older than me I have a happy little smile on my face

Reply:GREAT VIDEO kind of reminds me of my father's shop which he got from his father. There are still those shops out there but they are few and far between. My father also drew up designs on the dirt floor! But I have moved up to pencil and paper (and once in a while that new fangled computer).Heck look at some of my posts!!!! Took me forever just to figure out digital cameras.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.&  2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:Dirt floors make sweeping up at the end of the day a breeze.....just turn the lights out and go home lol ....I wonder if they poured concrete under the machines those lathes and other machines would get way out of level by lunch time
Reply:Let me know how many stool's are open, may just do the same.
Reply:Who'da thunk it, Carpenters doing metal work. Shouldn't they be building houses out of lumber instead? Great little video there, need more guys like them around.
