Hi I have recently started a welding business oilfield work, structural and heavy equipt.repair. I own a 2007 Lincoln 305 d with 500 hrs. I realize I should have a spare machine but I don't know what to buy. A new 305d a new or used vantage 300 or a sa model. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.
Reply:If the 305 is working for your business then i'd get another 305 but i'd look at your current machine and see what it is lacking and then find a machine that doesn't have those flaws.Lincoln pro core 125 14''chop saw7 inch grinder,2-4.5 inch grinders,electric die grinder.Half inch drillAnd alot of hand tools
Reply:I had the pleasure of checking out a vantage 500 recently. Very nice machine, cc/cv, lift tig and a great arc force control. On the way to the job, some guy with a boat backed into it and smashed the panel in. It still worked without a problem. Reply:My vote is for the Vantage. It will do every thing your 305d does, the vantage is a bigger machine. The SA 200 welds great , but no AC power for lights or power tools and drinks lots of gas. If you live in Tornado or hurricane prone area the vantage can provide AC power to your house.
