So, I'm in college and going for an associates degree (No, I do not expect to get top dollar. I do realize that I will be starting at the bottom like everyone else.) My question is, will I get retrained once I get a job? I keep stressing out thinking I'll mess up, but I've been doing good because I got certified in stick 1st semester and took a MIG course this summer and got certified in that. I will be taking pipe welding this semester, but keep worrying "what if I do bad". For some reason I have this constant stress about messing up.
Reply:Well you're 2 for 2 so far so I'd say odds are in your favor for a hat trick.Relax and don't sweat it. You'll likely run into a challenge or two along the way but you'll do just fine. I've heard seasoned weldors who've been welding for 30+ years say they get nervous every time they test for x-ray but still pass so you're not alone.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:If your worried about mistakes than I'd say your on your way to being a good welder! It's normally the guys who brag about how good they are that spend all the time behind a grinder to clean up the bird poo that shoots out of their gun!!!!The night before your test make a few practice runs, eat a good dinner, take a few shots of your preferred poison , go to bed, wake up, kick a** !!Good luck man, you should be just fine.Real welders know how to penetrate!(Equipment)Whatever can be used to beat my opponent into submission!
Reply:Our welders don't even bother to fix their mistakes.I would rather hire a guy worried about how he is going to perform that the guy that thinks he knows it all and tells me he can do it all. |
