I was looking for a drill press vise at Northern Tool, and stopped looking when I seen the price of some!So I bought one of these at Harbor Freight. Harbor Freight 9" Drill Press Locking Clamp. . I must say that it is well worth the money!. . It's quick to use and will save your fingers when drilling small things.I had an old Harbor Freight chop saw that I burned up. . It cut a lot of metal in the 5 years that I had it, and for $69 dollars I think I got my money out of it!. . After it burned up, I bought a Dewalt chop saw.I started to throw the burned up HF chop saw away over the weekend, and I noticed the table with the clamp was still good.So I looked it over and cut the table out. . I started my cut where the blade goes through and cut over to the other side. . all I had to do to turn this into a drill press vise was weld a couple pieces of 1/8" metal to the sides, and cut slots down each piece so I can adjust it. . I just use 2 bolts with wing nuts to mount it to the drill press. It works great ! . . Here's some pictures. Reply:Good idea, but I know that the vise on my chop saw would need a few pieces added.......it's really cheaply made.
