Hi folks, anyone have any input on a 14 inch Ridgid dry cut saw? I have a chance to get one for 250.00 and dont want to get burned. Any info would be great as too pro's, and cons of this machine, it is a 14 inch. Thanks , Wrench.
Reply:When did Ridgid come out with a non abrasive chop saw?Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:It's not on their website. In general, these are awesome saws, but are very task-specific. You can get away with cutting lots of stuff with an abrasive. The carbide ones require much greater care. It's a good price for a saw in like-new condition.
Reply:OK now this is funny ......I was in Home Depot picking up a 10" Norton fiber disk and the RIGID Rep happened to be there.Got to talking with him and said " You guys need to bring out a Dry Cut saw for steel. "He didn't know that Rigid even made one. hmmmmmmm
Reply:I just had a thought. Are we sure this is not an abrasive chop saw with a carbide blade???If so, that will probably be a dangerous combination. What's the RPM rating on the saw?
Reply:Doesn't look like someone put a carbide blade on a 'chop saw'.http://www.toolfetch.com/Category/Po...Saws/71687.htmRigid Model # 71687
Reply:Yup, and in my experience the rigid is the best on the market although I think the most expensive---far surpases the dewalt, jepson, hitachi, milwaukie's I've used over the years!!If you don't like the price ($250.00), let me know, I'll take it!!!!!Jerry |
