Howdy; These may be odd questions but I'm wondering how to properly stow and transport electrodes on a welding rig? I have several differing sizes and types and would like to carry most of them on my welding trailer. They are stored in labeled "Rod Guard" cases in the shop. I'm concerned about them banging together while enroute to a job knocking the flux from the electrodes. Is it best to transport these in a vertical, or horizontal storage rack? I have these side boxes which could be modified if need be.Sorry if the questions border on ridiculous. Thanks,Last edited by Slob; 08-26-2014 at 10:44 PM.Reason: PhotosSlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....
Reply:http://weldwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/ein...:384=RG-200-24 I use these or some variation of it. I've used them on boats, dredges, service trucks and not had an issue with flux coming off. At least not to the point of making the rods unusable.

Reply:I know that pipe line welders tend to have there rods vertical in the 50lb tins they come in. I keep mine in rod guards horizontal primarily because that's the only way they'll fit in my truck. I don't think it really matters much when you get right down to it.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm
