Not all of us are fortunate enough to have, or even to have the space for, an American Made lathe in our workshops. I am one of these unfortunate people. Although I do own, am in the process of restoring, a 1941 Dunlap (Craftsman) 109.0703 (6"X18"), I also own a 1973 Taiwan made LUM #62033, 6"x18" which is a much heavier built and more multi featured lathe than the 109. This LUM lathe has a quick-change gearbox, a rack for longitudinal travel of the carriage, power crossfeed, tapered roller bearings on the spindle, a 3/4" spindle bore, over 1" spindle thread (not accurately measured yet), #1 MT in the tailstock, #3 MT in the spindle. The 1/2 hp 110/220v motor is jackshaft mounted to the back of the bed, so it's nicely compact. It has Atlas style backgears and runs 16 speeds. It even has mcrometer dials on the cross and compound feed screws. Now this would seem like a pretty good machine to have, which I believe it is. I just cannot find any information on it. Does anyone have anything, links, a manual, parts list for this? I'd sure appreciate whatever you could help me with. I know I probably will have to make parts I cannot find from comparable lathes. HELP!!And to everyone in the group, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.Tony, in Hawaii
Reply:Tony, ............. Check out this web site: www.practicalmachinist.comI can't help you much, about this subject because I'm learning myself, but the guys on this site can probably answer pretty much any questions you might have, about lathes.Hope this helps.
