I just picked up a new trailblazer a couple months ago,  and been advertising for side work on craigs list.  I ended up doing about 4 small jobs and they went great.Trailer repair, jeep repair, some aluminum piping ect....      and the calls fizzled out. So I started a add on google ads about a week ago.  this ad cost cash not free.  and have had zero calls.Granted I work full time so my hours of operation is only several hours during the week and open for business on the weekends! But for anyone else doing what Im doing what works best for you??    (google, yellow pages ect..)I think word of mouth is best and I have business cards, but for advertising online, Im trying to find the best way.  Also Im in Las Vegas.Any advice would be GREATthanksMason
Reply:either stay groveling on craigslist on the down low (cash)orregister company with the city and federal govt (EIN#) get insured ETCget your business on google, google maps ETChttp://www.google.com/business/Since your probably working out of your home, your house will show up on google maps. So obviously market/advertise your welding as mobile. People won't think too negatively of it.get a website that looks good (squarespace.com)take photos of your workdon't do yellow pages or any other printed directory. if people need welding, they are going to google search it within their area.don't expect in coming calls from advertising in one weeks timewhen you do a job, ask the client to write a favorable review on googledo exceptional workunder promise and over deliverkeep your day job for a year or two and let welding grow organically on the nights and weekendscome up with a widget of your own design that you can build and sell and not be totally dependent on in coming callsLast edited by Jimmy_pop; 09-07-2014 at 01:35 PM.
Reply:Make sure your truck makes a statement. As dumb as that sounds, I have found from a few people experience that keeping a clean, big truck, with your company name and logo with phone number on it helps so much. People walk up to you, or get the phone number off the truck. If the truck/trailer you use is a personal vehicle as well, get magnetic signs on it, and keep it clean.
Reply:Thanks guys!   great advice!     I do want to do a LLC in the future when things get better.
