Some of you may remember I won the Miller welder in a contest about 1 1/2 years ago. Well, I am finally getting it out of the box and building a cart for it. After looking at a bunch of ideas on here and coming up with some of my own, here is the start of what will be my version of a welding cart.I had to bend some tubing today, and I really like my bender. A friend of mine made this in a CAD program and was using it for quite some time. Well after some smooth talking, I bought it all from him and all of the dies from 3/4" to 2" hossfeld. Anyways, here are some pics of what I've been up to.Adjustable Stop for repeatability---No good deed goes unpunished---
Reply:I really like that bender..sweet cart..
Reply:That is one sturdy cart.
Reply:Is this how they make bike handlebars..... I think that's pretty awesome.... never even knew metal could be bended!!!!! until now of course =D
Reply:Thanks to all. As for the handlebars, that is one way. There are many bender types, this is just what I have. It's really nice having a stop switch for repeatability though. I"m going to start making notes on which dies and what tubing uses what stop measurements. That way when I do go back to bending that type of tube I can just set up the machine and bend without going thru the whole set up again.---No good deed goes unpunished---
Reply:I built mine similar to urs only to find it was top heavy bc the front wheels were too close together. Moved the wheels out to 16" now it's more stable.
Reply:Yeah, I am a little concerned about that and if I have to move them so be it. Luckily, I have a ton of concrete, so not offroading to get it off balance. I think that if I have to move the wheels, I may install pneumatic tires for a smoother ride.Actually tried welding with it the other day. What a nice machine. I can't wait to try some aluminum with it to see how an inverter machine works.---No good deed goes unpunished---
Reply:Good looking cart! You might round off the corners of the bottle shelf, that would probably hurt if you ran your ankle into it.
Reply:CamW, I hear ya on the corners though. I have some ideas for that, but don't want to do anything as of yet. I am wanting to put a lift of some sort to lift the bottle up to the storage area. Not sure on which way to go yet, I'm still thinking of a way to design it. That is one thing that I dred is picking up the heavy bottles and putting them on the carts. The ideas that I have should make life a little easier if it works out.---No good deed goes unpunished---
Reply:Here are some more pics of my cart. It's getting closer to being finished up. Then take it apart and powdercoat it. I wish that I didn't have to work, it takes up too much of my free time.,---No good deed goes unpunished---
Reply:I like the cart, and really like the drawer coming out that far, will weight be an issue?JobSmart MIG125Lincoln AC225-SLincoln Pro-Mig 175Dewalt GrindersRidgid ChopsawIR Garage Mate CompressorAny thing worth doing, is worth doing right.
Reply:No, not with the bottle on the back. Plus I don't plan on keeping very much stuff in there anyways.---No good deed goes unpunished--- |
