I needed to get some T-post in the ground last week so i made this up to help get them down into the frozen ground. I made one before but it was short and not heavy duty. This is 3 1/2" sch 40 pipe, 1/2" hole saw cut out for the top and 5/8"s rod for the handles. Worked good. I forgot to take some pics in between, i just wanted to get it done fast. Welded it with 6010. Let me know what you think.Lincoln SA 200 Lincoln Idealarc 300/300 TIG
Reply:Very nice! I've driven a few thousand posts with a homemade driver very similar to that.

Reply:now for the trick on not damaging the ends of the posts as you pound away..melt and pour about 3/4 inch of lead into the top and let harden..Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...
Reply:Nice looking job, but these days, I want mine to come with an operator!

Reply:wouldnt it be better to add the lead outside the tube? like perhaps in a pipe cap welded to the top? so that the t post doesnt just chew up the lead and the post get jammed on there? or the lead fall out? I use these to in the vineyard and wondered about a mod on mine.Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few. Reply:I have one with the same long handles (mine's heavy ) and the handles are both bent in almost to the tube body. happens when you try to lift the heavy driver off the post and just let it fall to the ground.miller thunderbolt 250vlincoln square wave tig 175 prolincoln idealarc mig sp250everlast tig 210EXTeverlast power plasma 50chicago electric (hf) 130 tig/90 arcchicago electric 90 amp flux wire3 sets oxy/acet
