Angle grinder quick nut source?

Hello-I am looking for a source for quick attach nuts for 4-1/2" angle grinders. It looks like Jacobs no longer makes the PowerNut. Metabo has a quick attach, but I don't know if it will fit other brands.Thanks,Joe in NH

Reply:....yeah i want one to. i didnt know they made them either but i was using my grinder last week and was thinking to myself "self, theres gotta be a quicker way" (WITHOUT buying a specific grinder for each type disc i use)
Reply:Interesting, a quick nut.  I have seen them sold on grinders, but not as accessories.  Try an industrial supply store. With my 4 1/2 inch grinders, I always just take all attachments off and install them by hand. I always where gloves especially when removing brushes.  I just stick it between my knees and crank on or off.  I have been doing if this way for years.  I worked for a guy once who never kept the wrenches, thus the  only way to remove them was by hand. Only on rare occasions do they spin and I have to use alternative methods to remove the wheel.  Grinding wheels and brushes come of easily.  Cutting disc and flap wheels sometimes spin, but rarely.
Reply:I own a Metabo with the quick nut and several other brands of grinders. the quick nut will not interchange between them because the threaded spindle on the Matabo has a keyway type groove cut in it and all the others do not._________________Chris

Reply:I use the flap discs all the time and never use a wrench.  I hold the button and spin it right off.  I alway grind down what threads stick out of the nut so I can lay the grinder flat on the table for cleaning off splatter.  Every new grinder I get gets the same treatment.DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
