So I'm looking to trade my SMAW welder for a MIG as I feel it would suit my needs a bit better.I found this welder: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/wat/tls/4646271507.htmlI currently have a Miller Thunderbolt XL (AC/DC) and want to offer him a trade straight up. Is this a fair trade on either end? From what I can tell they're worth about the same. Also, is it a good machine, provided it is working and all. Seems there aren't many review on the pro mig, though that may be my fault for not knowing how to search for information! Thanks for reading
Reply:If hes interested and willing to do it, go for it. You will still need to buy a tank. Like you said, it will suit your needs better.

Reply:Okay so it seems he's already sold it but left up the ad. However he is interested in buying, if I can get $500 for my Miller, what is the best mig I can buy? Willing to go used btw.Sorry if this is one of those questions that's been asked a million times over but I figured I might as well ask while I have this thread! My main need is to weld 3mm thick round tubing
Reply:A used 175/180 class MIG or maybe a factory refurb Hobart 140 if all you do is thin stuff. ($420. at http://www.hobartweldshop.com/servle...ers/Categories)About the best deal I've seen on CL (and missed) was an L-TEC Migmaster 250 with a good sized tank for $500."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:Excellent! I'll probably just try to find something in the 180 range, I figure having the extra power means I won't have to buy another welder down the road if I need something bigger |
