Another use for railroad tie plate.

....besides using these to shoot at with a rifle from afar....I needed some thick steel to lay down on my tail gate to do quick small welds here and there, without damaging the thin sheet metal and paint of the truck and also when away from the home garage.   Also, it seconds as a heavier "top platform" for my really thin portable (3/16" x 2' x 2') table.  I wanted the thickness to help absorb heat, without warping the 1/4" plate it sits on top of.  I added 5/8" thick bolts underneath for leveling as well as to eliminate any wobble it might have, by simply adjusting the bolt(s) with a quick turn of the hand.  Here's before and after pics:(Equip:  Miller 211, .030 Lincoln "Super Arc", 75/25). Reply:Looks nice, SuperArc. I like how you used the bolts so you can level it! . . That gave me an idea for a couple projects!  I have an unlimited supply of RR plates and RR rail. . . My dad retired from the RR after 44 years, and I can go to a local RR yard and tell them what I need, and they load it up for me! I've been working in my spare time on an anvil made from a piece of RR rail. .
