A friend of mine does flooring work; wood, carpet, remodels, etc. He requested I make this tool to hold the carpet down after he heat glues it (something like that, I really have no idea). Anyways, I got a really good deal on a scrap piece of 52-inch long H-beam (W08X58) Grade A992 (I say scrap, but it was brand spanking new, still had the NYS-USA label on it). It was a drop piece from another job, and the owner sold me the drop at the cost of scrap. I flame cut an 18-inch piece off the H-beam, then flame cut that piece to the specs my friend drew up. -He is very happy!I call it the Carpet Commando MK2 "Desert Warrior" model (CC-MK2). The handle was made from a 3/4-inch metal dowel welded to what was the 5/8-inch web of the H-beam. The finished product weighs 35 pounds. The welds were made with a Millermatic 252 using .045 dual shield flux core wire and 100% CO2. Welding with this stuff is awesome! Slag came off by itself with almost no spatter! Reply:Very cool. Like the paint. Camo is probably my favorite colour.
Reply:Come on, my Dad has been using the tray out of his tool box for that for 35 years.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:That's a great looking project. Aren't you afraid he's going to break the handle off it? JackFort Loramie, OhioMilermatic Autoset 180

Reply:This was the first one I made. The customer likes it, but wanted one with holes and the corners cut off. I think he said the holes are so the steam could pass through?? He plans on selling this one, and keeping the CC-MK2 for himself. This is the CC-MK1 "Jungle Warrior" model..
