I am trying to sale my powr kraft 250 with hi frequency box on craigslist but no luck, I am included the machine with plenty of cable, wp17 torch + extra and consumables, filler wire, rods, regulator and filled 40cf argon starter bottle for a price of $450. My Question, $450 asking a bit to much or is it fair ? What do you think is a fair price for the package ?  I wanted to keep it but with the Syncrowave 210 in the shop I don't think I will be touching the powr kraft anymore. Reply:It's on the high side of fair. The problem is at that price, you are in the lower price range of a dedicated tig rig in many locations. They would get a better machine at the same or just slightly more than you are asking. You might however have better luck breaking things apart. $250-300 isn't a bad price in many locations for an AC/DC stick machine, though since yours is an "off" brand that may be on the high side of fair. The HF box might bring $100 on it's own for someone who is looking to try AC tig  but already has the AC/DC machine. $150 for the tig torch, hose, reg and 40 CF cylinder is probably on the lower end of reasonable. I bet if someone anted to set up their DC stick machine or engine drive for scratch start DC tig, those parts would run them well over $250 new for semi decent stuff.Just on that break down alone, $250 for the stick machine, $100 for the HF box and $150 for the tig gear, you are $50 ahead of what you are asking right now, and if you set the prices a bit higher so you can come down if need be, you might even squeak out a bit more if someone really wants a particular part and pays your asking price. You just may sit on something like the HF box until the right buyer comes along..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:I agree with DSW.  Sell the stick welder alone. In addition, the rest of the stuff can go on ebay.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:You can put the HF box up on Fleabay and see how it sells. That will probably get you most of the way there. Also if you talk to the IRS, you can probably set up some sort of payment plan. They want money and have the leverage to take it from you. However they would probably be happy if you told them you can pay $50 a month for the next 4 months to settle the debt vs all at once because funds are tight. They may even take less over a longer period of time, though they may continue to add interest at a rate that would make the credit card companies seem cheap, not to mention penalties that you already are getting hit with.  ( My Uncle gets hit regularly for a penalty from the IRS because he OVERPAYS his estimated taxes...  ) Don't tell them you need to sell something to pay your bill, or they may make a note to try and tax you on your "income" and they may think you are getting more in cash regularly you are not reporting. The court tacked another $15K onto a friend of mines yearly income for "cash" business because hes a contractor when he was getting divorced and they were doing child support. The state feels since he is a contractor, automatically there is a portion of his business that is cash based that contractors regularly under report, so they whacked him for that even though everything he does is on the up and up and he almost never does cash jobs. .No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Your uncle must be a pissed off guy, I haven't called the IRS and probably won't, I will just send them the $200 if I have to borrow it from a friend. Its not that I can't pay but my check doesn't come in untill the 24th . What happened is that I went to a new tax preparer and they screwed it up big time so I had to amend the taxes and send in deductions which saved me $800 dollars. I need to seek legal advice on the tax guy because he screwed me good but I don't even know where to start.  Long story short I won't be filing taxes anymore and will be dropping off the face of the earth , I am a youtube partner and make more money off that then I do as a caregiver and in my shop so I am going in a new direction. It really blows my mind how 80% of the people in my state are on welfare or food stamps and I can't even afford obama care and that's supposed to be free, even immigrants have it better then I do. I should give up on my pride and go on welfare and foodstamps but I am sure they wouldn't even give me enough to survive since I don't have kids or a pile of them
Reply:Note that once you get flagged by the IRS, it usually means they take a closer look at you for the next few years. Dropping off the face of the earth may not be the smartest solution. The way today's systems are so interconnected and the fact they use your SSN for id on everything ( despite the fact it's illegal. The excuse is you give it "voluntarily" and if you don't completely fill out the form, they won't process it. ( been around that with the DOT and other state services a few times)).No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
