I saw a Hobart 250 csi plasma cutter new for $500 at a pawn shop. Offered $400, no go. My thoughts are to just save up $500 more and get a Hypertherm Powermax 30. Any suggestions welcom. This will be be my first plasma cutter. Thanks. Mike
Reply:Without a doubt the Hypertherm. I say this because 10 years from now, the Hypertherm will still be worth some $$$ and you'll still be able to get parts for it. Not to mention it will out work the Hobart at least 3:1.
Reply:HT.....Hobarts will be obsolete in a few years....
Reply:Yea, didn't like the little air pump setup and I read where it struggles with anything larger than 1/8 steel. I saw a YouTube video of the Powermax 30. PrImpressive. Would rather have the PM45 as that would cover anything that I would be cutting, I wonder if you can drag the nozzle of the 45 on the work like the 30? I am definitely putting some cash away though for the Hypertherm and keeping an eye out for a used one. Problem is, not too many people sell them once they have them. Thanks for the input. Reply:I am looking for a nice OA rig also. Saw one on Craigslist over in winterhaven Florida, for not too bad a price. Sent from a cell phone using tapatalk.

Reply:Here is a longshot, I live in South Florida, am also a ham radio operator with some extra Rohn 25 tower sections. Any welder out there want to trade a Powermax for some sections, installed also? There must be a different part of our forum for this. Sent from a cell phone using tapatalk. |
