Gooseneck hitch

Let me say first and foremost i did not make this, had no part of making this and never would even attempt anything this stupid. I thought everyone new that gooseneck and fifth wheel hitches were all tied into the frame rails and not just bolted to the bed floor. theres some scary things on the road that back yard welders put together. what are yalls thoughts on this setup?

Reply:lucky its not a diesel and i  think only a 1500 but screw that. the bed rail will crush and watch that thing rattle.

Reply:Some nice looking welds right threw the rust. But really, all of that his weakest point is the welded on ball. Hopefully he doesn't kill anyone else when the trailer crashes threw the back of the cab.

Reply:Wow......I guess I wasted my money buying an engineered turn over ball and mounting it to the frame. Maybe next time!
Reply:Probably not much worse than most commercial built flatbeds that are sold for mounting on 1 tons.  The hitch pockets on most of them are really pretty lousy.I do see a lot of these that are just bolted to the floor like this.  I wouldn't do it, but some folks do.DOT leaves these guys alone, and if I have one frayed strap, or a cab marker light out, it's a fat ticket for me"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Last shipping wars show one couple was complaining about getting a ticket for a pesky cracked wheel on their max loaded trailer.  Pffft, cracked wheel, its fine yet.
