So my Weber gas grill needed some love and instead of giving them almost 50 bucks for some flimsy stamped sheet metal "flavorizer bars" I used some 1/4" angle I had hanging around. Net cost 30 mins and 3 beersDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:How well does that work?  The "flavorizer" bars are sized to fit over each burner and keep the drippings from fouling the holes.  If your bars don't cover the burners, I would expect you to be wirebrushing the burner tubes pretty frequently. The models with three burners have five bars.  The front, middle and rear bars fit over the burner tubes, and the other two cover the space between them.If you have the same model as me, check this out:http://www.ebay.com/itm/140639556454...84.m1423.l2649Stainless will last a real long time.  The flimsy steel ones they come with do not, and are way overpriced.Last edited by rlitman; 04-08-2013 at 05:34 PM.
Reply:It is just fine, I only use this when I am in a rush, other than that I use the charcoal grill. This one was given to me 5 years ago I already put a new regulator on it and gas hose, these were on the list as well. I will eventually buy a new Weber gas grill one of these days, but for now the old beast just wont die. A lesser grill would have disintegrated by now.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:I did the same thing with mine only I butted all the angle together and welded a 1" bead at each end between every piece.  I've done this on at least 3 grills in the last 20 years and it sure makes a difference in the life of the burners.
Reply:Same here.. I do it on every gas grill I buy. double the life of the burners.

Reply:Not BBQ sauce, real NH maple syrup and German mustard mixed up with some spices. Makes a killer glaze on the pork.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Yep smells good over here, I just hate it smelling others BBQ ...Magazines have issues, everything else has problems

Reply:My brother rebuilt his many times. Yours is perfectly seasoned, I say keep it until you can't rebuild it. I have a $4200 Viking, my parents gave me when they realized Weber is the best! I can definitely agree there's no comparing to a Weber."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:The burner in my charbroil is rotting out. I'll have to pick up a new one some day and make up a cover for it that has been missing for the last few years.
Reply:Center cut pork loinSweet and spicy glaze Cold beverage to wash it downNow thats a  repair job to sink your teeth into!!Yumm....
Reply:Food time?I don't have any recent pics but my favorite is strait up steak with mushrooms and onions. Not pictured but I even cooked a couple steaks over the fire.
Reply:The best retro fit to a gas grill is to rip all the guts out and convert it to charcoal.  IMHO  "G"ConductorX - The Volkswright Shophttp://volkswright.blogspot.com/http://bugwerks.blogspot.com/Miller DVI w/Spoolgun - Miller Plasma Cutter
