I am looking for a new O/A torch. I am stuck between a Gentec from Northern Tool or a Victor. Anyone have opinions on these? Both are comparable in price, RG
Reply:Victor.Parts around every corner. Lasts long time. Even used ones are trustworthy.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:Go with one of the industry standards Smith or Victor.REAL TRUCKS DON'T HAVE SPARK PLUGS
Reply:I would go with the victor simply because of parts availability. My neighbor had a Gentec torch ans when he needed a new part he was unable to find them. He thought that since it was Victor compatible, that he could use Victor parts. That was not the case and he had to by a new torch. I hope this helps with your decision. Reply:Victor all the way. As long as you don't use it as a hammer it will last a long long time. Parts are available everywhere.
Reply:Victor or a Smith. You can be proud of either and will get excellent support and no worrying about whether parts, tips, etc are compatible as with a knockoff. And you always find that out at the least convenient time.
Reply:Harris makes some nice outfits, made in USA and they are not as expensive as the two mentioned above.  Just my opinion.  Best Bob
Reply:I've heard the Harbor Freight O/A torches are fully Victor compatible and they're a lot cheaper and get lots of good reviews on the HFT site...

Reply:Originally Posted by DSWI don't know about the current ones, but I know at least 3 guys who had issues with HF torches where parts would not fit. One guy bought two torch kits at the same time and one would take standard Victor parts, but the QC on #2 was out just enough the same parts wouldn't fit on that unit.
Reply:Victor now makes their stuff overseas. Recommend only buying their older stuff. metalmagpie
Reply:A fellow member is selling a victor torch on eBay.   Here is a link http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=206471
