Reply:Pretty good fit, I don't see that many people use Layout procedures any more.Used to do that for Line Heaters and Reboilers.Leo
Reply:If you don't weld that pipe up you could use the chunk for a template to mark out future notches of the same size pipe.
Reply:Ive got the Pipefitters Bible, but sometimes its just easier to print out the template and trace. Making saddles is fun, you get much more satisfaction then burning in some weldbend parts....Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP ( boat anchor )Lincoln Weld-Pac 100 HDHobart IronMan 230Cutmaster 42Jackson NexGenSumner Ultra ClampsDWM120

Reply:Thanks guys. We do not use this procedure it is just one of the testing procedures for the gas company. It has to be layed out cant use templates. It is a test of layout, fitting and welding skills. This one was done all cellulose rod 8010. I have to do another one using all low hydrogen. 7016 root 7018 fill and cap. I will try to get pics of the entire test inside and out.
Reply:Layout isn't too bad to do. Cutting it out PROPERLY is the test. Great torch control on the bevel. That's the hardest part . Good fit up makes the weld soooooooooo much easier and faster. When you can stick a pair of channel locks in the joint , now that's a weldin test. |
