Aluminum rail pricing???

Well I haven't done any big aluminum rail jobs in a while.. tons of steel, stainless, cable.. no aluminum.. Just got a bid request on a huge aluminum rail job for a hotel.. Hundreds of feet of aluminum guardrail with handrail on a few stairs..   Whats a good starting point per linear foot for aluminum?    Thanks!
Reply:depending on the work involved... what size aluminum, what finish, engineered moving parts etc... for ~22' of schedule 40 1.5" aluminum pipe (2" od) with radius corners, 2"x3" rectangular tubing all built in shop to blue print specs. plenty of parts cut on the water jet. ~$1000/ ft but at that rate you can have some serious wiggle room and still turn a profit  if issues arise.When I bid my own jobs I figure material cost and multiple by 4 or 5 depending on the amount of work involved... Sometimes even more if the job is labor intensive.

Reply:I just quoted and got a small railing job. 2 x 2 x1/8 wall post, top rail and bottom rail with 3/4 pipe every 4 inches. 75 per foot installed. This is raw. No paint powder

Reply:You did not keep any informations or database about old estimation that you have done ?This is the basic in estimating (and i don't even work in this aera) its just a normal thing to do, especialy if you have already done stainless job and steel and any kind of railings you almost have 80% of work done, just need to do some calls for your aluminum price and adjust with you old pricing of job that you have done in the past!Calculator > Bevel Square

Reply:When I first priced this job I too came out higher then my quoted price of 75 per foot. I then priced out the stuff from Home Depot. It's powder coated. It can be done for under 45 per foot. Just not nearly as strong. Then I looked at a local job done by another guy. I found out he charged 70 per foot. So I bumped up 5 bucks and went with it. I got the job. So now I will carefully track time and materials and see how I doDan
Reply:I seem to find a lot of standard aluminum handrail, wall mounted tends to run right around $100-120/LF from major suppliers (I'm a commercial contractor, seen a few handrails) more complicated ones can go up from there $2-300/lf isnt uncommon for shorter runs of something. In contrast, steel rail is between $30-60/LF for the same 1-5/8 to 2" OD wall mounted handrail.
