RIDGID drills anyone got one

well some of my drills have finally died and its about the same to get a new one as to replace the batteries so i was looking at the rigid 18 volt lithium ion with the free replacement batteries etc anyone have one if so hows it work ?350P 30A spool gun cut master 51  syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off

Reply:I don't know about the battery drills, but I bought a 3/8 rigid drill in '86.  The instructions said "plastic handle and metal gear case so no matter how hot the drill gets you can still hang on to it".  They are right.  It  works fine as the day I bought it.  5.4 amps VS the 4.5 amp Milwakee holeshooter I bought about the same time.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Milwaukee has a V28 Lithium-Ion cordless that they claim can do up to twice the amount of work per charge as an 18V 2.4 amp-hour NiCd or NiMH powered tool.  And that it will provide up to 2 1\2 times the amount of work over the life of the battery.  Certainly sounds impressive.WeldingWeb forum--now more sophomoric banter than anything else!

Reply:I don't know anything about there drills but there should be a law that all pipe wrenchs must be made by Ridgid.
Reply:Ridgid tools are a house brand made for Home Depot. They are a different division of the plumbing tools.That being said, they are fantastic bargains in todays tool world.The motors on the tools are mfg. by Emerson, who is one of the best, if not the best motor out there. The battery operated tools are covered by a LIFETIME (just make sure to register them) replacement warranty on ANY problem you may have. Battery no longer charging? Take it back to HD and they will give you a new one. Motor not working? Take it to an authorized repair shop and they will fix it or Ridgid will replace it.They are also engineered to be very ergonomic. Quiet running. Lightweight. What more can you ask from a power tool?
Reply:Ridgid pipe and tubing tools are some of the best in the business.  Everything else is average at best.  There are other, better tools at similar prices.  I am personally a Milwaukee man when it comes to power tools.  I don't have much experience with their cordless stuff.  I know the early generations of cordless drills were kind of cheesy, but they may have gotten their act together by now.Last edited by 76GMC1500; 07-22-2007 at 09:47 PM.
Reply:I checked into Rigid cordless drill and It sure was heavy. But I use it all day long putting in electricial devices. And You purchase from Home Depot, but if you have any problems they sell out their service department, so you have to take it some where else to get it fixed. If I buy it from you , you better take care of it, or I don't buy it from you! Don't tell me I have to take it to someone else to get it fixed!
