When I was in the utility plant they always made outage buckles from SS tube and filler . Here are two I collected . Attached Images
Reply:making buckles is kind of a tradition in the place i work at also. these are made from broken keys and some stainless scrap. Attached Imagesi.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:Those are nice. I did a double take at the one that says San Antonio because I know you are in NY. GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.

Reply:gxbx; i don't mean to hi-jack your thread. i kinda like the one with the star- maybe you'd be interested in a buckle swap?i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla

Reply:Ok, I'm confused. What is an outage buckle?
Reply:Googled an "outage buckle" with no success. What is it for? Someone lose their electric and commemorates the date? "Coming out" buckle? Inquiring minds want to now?
Reply:Must be a Texas thing.
Reply:I'll explain when large power plant outages (maintenance) or construction where you have many welders and fitters millwrights etc different welding groups make buckles . Lay up a pattern weld face slice off 3/8" weld new face , etc they sometimes have apprentices or 2nd yrs journeyman welding them up for experience I'll bet that big plant under construction in Ga has made several different ones. I don't think pipe liners make them ,I mean who could wear a 36" dia. buckle. gxbxc
