Snap-ons plasma cutter are they any good?.Who makes them?I'm looking at the 30-50 amp model,Thanks Victor SuperRanger O/A                                         Solar migLincoln Powermig 140Southbend 9in lathe350# kohlswa anvilMiller Maxstar 150 stl etc....
Reply:I would not get one from Snap-On that name adds a few hundere to the price.I would just buy one made by a company that makes plasma cutters.Hypertherm or Thermal DynamicsAlso consider you will need consumables, no one but the snap-on guy will sell you then if they are proprietary. Cu-ching!Me!
Reply:I know that, i was hoping a known company made them and just stuck the blue point name on them. I can get a good deal on one if i decide i want it Victor SuperRanger O/A                                         Solar migLincoln Powermig 140Southbend 9in lathe350# kohlswa anvilMiller Maxstar 150 stl etc....
Reply:thermal dynamics is good.I had used a bluepoint plas at te last shop i worked out and one time when it broke down I had a horrible time trying to get customer support.  I called snap on, was given another number, called that, was given another and finally I found someone who could help me. (This process took quite some time)Have we all gone mad?
Reply:Some are made by Cebora out of Italy.  Supplied/imported  by Century probably.  At least the 110 volt 25 amp model is.Check out:   www.weldmart.com for infoLast edited by WelderDaddy; 08-19-2007 at 09:19 PM.
Reply:I own a blue point plasma.  Picked it up on the CHEAP brand new as part of a package deal from a guy who needed the cash.  As long as it has a GOOD outlet to work from, it's cut 3/16ths cleanly for me no problem.  The only dislike I had about it was the push start safety feature, i.e the tip has to be depressed to fire the arc.Depending on what model you have, consumables are very inexpensive and easy to obtain through Daytona MIG.
Reply:i had one, the machine was great, the consumables were ridiculously expensive new tips were something like 45$ apiece or it was 45$ for three, i forget exactly but they were way above any other brand.  i tried getting profax replacements but they didn't fit quite right and wouldn't work.   you may have luck with a hypertherm universal torch head (i think it was hypertherm), i had ordered one, then katrina came and wiped out both my plasma machine and the welding supply house.
