Hello guys, we have a machine here at work that straightens and cuts solid steel wire. In the rotating straightener part (the arbor), there are dies that you adjust to put more or less tension on the wire to straighten the wire, removing the wire's "memory".  You adjust them by turning five 9/16-12 set screws. It works ok, but the set-up person/operator has a hard time seeing where the wire is. The wire has to be in the right location or the dies will scratch and/or break the wire. This causes a lot of down-time. Anyway, to make a long story short, I need 9/16-12 hollow lock socket set screws like this:I checked Mcmaster Carr, but they don't have that size. 9/16 seems to be an odd size fastener anyway.Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Stick Linde HDA-300 MillerMatic DVI MIG Miller Dynasty 200DX Hypertherm Powermax 1000

Reply:Hmm... Sanding might work. I didn't think of that. Thanks!Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Stick Linde HDA-300 MillerMatic DVI MIG Miller Dynasty 200DX Hypertherm Powermax 1000
Reply:some of the best supply cataolgs i have ever dealt with are www.jlindustrial.com and MSC Supply Company. J&L is owned by MSC, but they seem to differ on a lot of prices. also, check out Grainger and Global Industrial. i doubt Global has the set screws, but they have alot of other cool stuff.later,Andy
Reply:couldnt you drill out some normal ones?Have we all gone mad?
Reply:You could weld an allen key into the setscrews making it easy to adjust and locate, although that is only works if the screws don't move around.

Reply:that is kinda weird. it's not like the 9/16 is a very small set screw. i've seen hollow 1/16" and maybe even a 1/32 before. i can't remember the exact size, but it was TINY and hollow. it was for a shifter knob for in my car. not exactly load bearing and they were constantly coming loose, but they were small and hollow. i would have thought that 9/16 would have been no big deal to find. have you tried McMaster-Carr? www.mcmaster.com . try them and see if you can find anything.later,Andy
