Looking to back purge some stuff and need a new regulator to do so.  Can anyone recommend me a good flow meter or regulator to use for this? Thanks,JonMiller Diversion 180Hobart Handler 140 (Soon to be replaced with Miller 211?)Miller Spectrum 625 Extreme
Reply:A dual flowmeter is the way to go. Some folks try to run a Y or T valve after the reg but that'll just waste gas and the torch flow/purge flow will be competing. If you already got a solid flowmeter, you could do a Y before the reg and hang a second one off the other side of the Y.http://www.arc-zone.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=7912NickESAB CaddyTig 2200iPowermax 45MM140 (Sold)

Reply:If you look at the part number, you'll see it's the same thing. I just linked a more expensive site. Shop around.NickESAB CaddyTig 2200iPowermax 45MM140 (Sold)
Reply:Take a look at the output pressure. 50 psi is way more than I would like for tig. The Victor dual output is 35psi. Over time the amount of surge gas you save will far outweigh the added cost of the Victor.BTW, standard output pressure of a single tig victor flowmeter victor hrf2425, is 25 psi. The dual is calibrated at 35 psi to compensate for the extra flow.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:I do have a much smaller cylinder would it make more sense to use the much smaller cylinder for back purge and the main cylinder for my common welding?  I don't back purge THAT much yet.Big bottle by Jon Kensy, on FlickrThat's my smaller bottle in front - I could get a flow meter for my main bottle and move the regulator from that to my small bottle... that might make sense.Miller Diversion 180Hobart Handler 140 (Soon to be replaced with Miller 211?)Miller Spectrum 625 Extreme
Reply:I use that dual regulator too, but AFTER the gas solenoid in the welder. leave the single reg to feed the welder then plumb the dual in between the tig welder and the torch. what this does is it only purges when the gas solenoid in the welder is open. I also have a gas valve on my torch, so to purge I just close my torch valve, tap my pedal and initiate flow.. it then flows for 15 seconds as I have my post flow set, might have to tap the pedal a few times if you need 30 or 45 seconds of purge flow. this works very well for smaller things like purging exhaust headers and stuff, if you are purging something with much more volume that requires a few minutes of flow before welding then this setup might not be ideal but why I like it so much is I can never forget the purge on and it's semi automated  I have a valve after the secondary leg that I simply close when I'm not purgingmiller 330a bp TIGmiller dynasty 200DX TIGmillermatic 185 MIGthermal dynamics cutmaster 101 plasma cuttersnap-on YA5550 plasma cutterhypertherm powermax 30 plasma cutterbaileigh CS225 cold sawetc....
Reply:I can't do that - I have a Diversion 180 with the hose installed inside the welder.  Just looking for a conventional meter @ the bottle.Miller Diversion 180Hobart Handler 140 (Soon to be replaced with Miller 211?)Miller Spectrum 625 Extreme

Reply:I do have that smaller second bottle - ok, so if I was going with a single flow meter which would be ideal?Miller Diversion 180Hobart Handler 140 (Soon to be replaced with Miller 211?)Miller Spectrum 625 Extreme

Reply:Is it any good?  I don't mind spending $100 - $150.  $250 is too much.  $35 leaves me unsure.Miller Diversion 180Hobart Handler 140 (Soon to be replaced with Miller 211?)Miller Spectrum 625 Extreme
Reply:I don't think you need anything fancy for a backpurge flowmeter.
Reply:Oops - I was saying I would take the regulator off my tall bottle, put that on the small bottle for backpurge, and then get a good flow meter for my primary tall bottle.  Sorry for confusion.Miller Diversion 180Hobart Handler 140 (Soon to be replaced with Miller 211?)Miller Spectrum 625 Extreme
