Hello, new here. Joined because my Miller 300 SD just decided to stop working for me. I used it last week, no problem. Turned it on the other night and it's in stick mode, and won't let me switch to Tig. If I try to push any of the tig function buttons, HELP12 displays, which means that function is not applicable to the selected mode. I've always used tig, never stick. I tried the reset settings, verified lockout is off, and opened it up to check all the plugs and fuse, but it's still stuck in the same place. Any ideas...?  Some have suggested the front panel board, PC3.  Where do I even find a replacement, or is it repairable? Thanks! Alex
Reply:You might try asking at Miller's own forum. It sounds like the touch panel is no longer working.  It is possible that the contacts under the cover have become corroded over time/with age.  You might be able to temporarily rig up an external push-button switch to move to the next selection.  You would need some detailed schematics and some basic electrical knowledge to figure out which wires and/or if its even possilble. If you narrow it down to the front panel, you might be able to dissassemble and clean the contacts.  Contact cleaner plus a pencil eraser can do the trick but in my experience the problem will come back sooner rather than later (call it a couple month fix). I know Miller still lists front panels for my old Maxstar, so I think you might get lucky.  Front panel for my old Maxstar is over $400.  I have a small ding in it.  I'll live with it for that kind of money. As for parts, in all likelyhood you will be able to fix whatever is wrong so long as money is not an issue.  And if Miller doesn't still make the board, there are companies that rebuild them.  For parts see "http://www.miller4less.com/" as well as Miller.  Also, a search on ebay sometimes you get lucky.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
Reply:Yeah, I did ask over there first.  Interesting about the contacts, but I think that button is used for the reset or lockout procesures, which I was able to do, which would suggest the button itself works...
Reply:Yes, if I push the process button to switch to Tig mode, the display shows HELP12.  This is very sad for me...
Reply:Anyone parting out a Dynasty 300 or have NOS parts hiding somewhere...?
Reply:Help 12 - a non-allowable setting on front panel.....Wonder what that could mean?  I can see how some TIG settings would not be good for stick, but not sure what stick settings would not be allowed for TIG.  OCV voltage?  I', reaching for straws.  Current too low/high?Might be worth running it buy a service place - at least for diagnostics.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
Reply:Brought it to a Miller service center.  He was perplexed and without doing further troubleshooting, said either the front panel board, PC3, or the main control board.  And the main control is less likely, a lot more money, and would probably have produced it's own error. How do I contact this Larry Burross?  Just call the number for that place listed on google?

Reply:So Larry is "too busy" to help me.  I've called and called.  He never calls back and when I actually do get ahold of him, he says they're working on it when they can.  Someone else answered the phone one day and knew of me and told me not to call anymore, that if they find something, they'll call me.  Is there any other hope out there for my machine?!  Or maybe someone local to Larry who can walk in and get his attention...?
Reply:Well I sent my PC-3 board to EIC in Georgia finally.  A week and $350 later, and the machine works again!
Reply:Thanks for the advice to send it out for repair! But next question...  The tech said a short or bad signal came through the RC3 plug.  But the pat of the plug he described isn't used.  There are like three big plugs all right next to each other.  The right one is unused, which is where he said the problem came from, the middle one is input from the foot pedal, and then there's a small 2 pin connector on the left that goes somewhere into the machine. Is there another issue I should look for, or those bad components just failed because they were worn out? Thanks!
Reply:What is a PP check...?
