Mig welder's

Question for all you good mig welders out there.  Where do you position   the shield to the tip?  recessed, even or protruding?  If protruding how far.  If recessed how much.  Also gasflow using .023 wire.  Thanks SnitzBeing "over the hill" is much better than being under it!

General purpose for short circuit transfer I like the tip extended past the nozzle about an 1/8". The only time I use a recessed contact tip configuration (1/8" - 1/4") is for spray transfer. If I ran a gas shielded fluxcore, I'd probably recess the tip with it too.
