Sorry for all the questions so far, plenty more to come as well! Ideally, I am looking to build a frame for my truck, but would love a tig welder at the same time. Would it be best, or just "extra" to buy a tig machine (Maxstar 150 from Miller) and build the frame once that is bought? I'm guessing MIG is more than suitable which probably answers my own question, but wanted your opinions.
Reply:It wouldn't let me edit my post for some reason, but just a few questions about this welder...It says in the ads that I have read that it is ready to STICK weld, but it's a tig machine. I know NOTHING about tigging or stick welding. What does this mean? Is it not setup where I can buy rod and all needed to tig and get started? Do I still need a pedal and all or what? I'm a bit confused.
Reply:The Miller site says you get a machine set up ready to burn rod. To get the tig setup you have to order with "Prot Case & Accy Pack 1" at a minimum. It is advertised as a stick welder and you add options from there.What ads are you referring to, it is possible that it's being offered that way...but not at the Miller site.Anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT
Reply:It says it's ready for electricity and from there you can weld. It didn't necessarily say TIG, I believe it meant stick. I believe I may work on the frame with my mig and buy a tig later down the road, it was just appealing. That is, unless I can sell my 175 lincoln for a good price and put it towards a tig machine.
