Reply:One word of warning is the make sure there's nothing hard for that mower to hit. One rock or piece of metal can break those spindle housings in a second (if they're the ones I think they are). I keep that style spindle housing in stock all the time because everybody breaks them. They're made by AYP and Craftsman, Husquvarna, Poulan, and a few others all have the same spindles.   If you do break one try and find the aftermarket heavy duty version to put back. Reply:Well, this thing gets TWO THUMBS UPI'm doing the first cut to establish the safe boundaries for mowing.  There's a lot of stuff under the tall grass, and she doesn't want to be the one who breaks the new mower Two step process..........First walk thru the tall grass poking around to see if there's something under there.  Next, carefully run the mower thru the high crap with your foot on the brake to make panic stops  I should have done the cleanup last Winter   But after 2yrs of drought it just didn't get done.WOW!!!!!!I mean SOME OF THIS STUFF IS AROUND 2 FEET TALL, AND THICK!!!!!!!!!!!!  I've almost reached the limits on the perimeter.  Next step is to take the brush hog, and clean out the really suspect areas before risking the mower.(I'm having so much fun that she may not get to play with the new toy for a little while)We had a discussion over horsepower.  She felt that a smaller 17hp mower might work just as well.  I felt that we needed all the hp we could afford.  I settled for the 21hp motor.  It might never be needed again after I clean up the mess, but it's been a God Send for the first mowing.  And.......you can't tell when there might be a long period of rain where you can't get out and mow, and you're right back to where you started.......A Jungle"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I never understood what the big deal is about diamonds anyway. It's just another rock if you ask me. That mower is worth WAY MORE. Ever try to mow an acre of grass with a rock? I imagine it would take forever. If she wants something sparkly and shiny, just add some Chrome to the mowerNow you can make her one of these to go with the new mower, just paint it to match the mower. Attached Images

Reply:Why didn't you use the bushhog to do the initial cut of the high grass and then use the mower to maintain?Oh and we run a finish mower on the back of our smaller tractor to do the mowing because let's face it, regular mowers suck. If I had the money I'd get a zero turn commercial mower to dedicate to mowing but the finish mower deck gets the job done with minimal fuss and maintence.Sam don't listen to these guys talk about there mowers...you get that lady what ever she wants...i would buy mine three or four if she would go out and do the job,
