Before I buy one I wanted to check and get some opinions.. I am building a welding cart, and want to bend 1 inch 3/16 strap to fit around my argon tank to hold it in place. I measured the tank and it looks like it is about 7 inches wide.. I want to hold the tank to the cart the same way you see conduit running up a wall.. I looked and the biggest die seems to be 3 inches.. I don't have any experience with the benders but was wondering if it could make the correct bend with this size die or a compact bender?

Reply:Originally Posted by RojodiabloUse 1/8" strap, or even thinner. It won't fail. All it does is keep the tankin place. I use 1/16"thick x1-1/2" plate straps for construction. They are way strong enough for this application.

Reply:Yes, you could make the bends with that bender. Just plan your bending sequence. Just make tiny bump bends to make the arc. Use your make small die or 90 degree attachment to make the ends.I would think 1/8 strap would be Ideal. If you already have the 3/16", it will bend the "easy way" with no problem.
