We cut the ends off a propane tank today, to make a couple fire ring pits. I've never seen a tank like this. It has an inner wall in it with a tube going through the wall. It was welded all the way around both the outer edge and the tube. We had the tank washed out with water and while the main part of the tank still had about half the water in it, there was only about 6" in the other part. We coudn't even see how it got in that part. Any body know what this is for and more importantly if it could have been dangerous? Attached Images
Reply:Often propane tanks are set up to draw off liquid or gas.  Engines often want liquid that is vapourized at the intake manifold so the tube might be to draw liquid from the bottom of the tank?  On the other hand things like camp stoves require gas so they often have some means to pickup gas from the top space of the tank when it is it operating position.  I had a propane tank sitting on its side in my camper.  It had a special internal tube so that I would draw gas for the stove and not liquide.
Reply:That may be what it is.
Reply:Yup that's a tank set up for liquid draw,  that's what the tube is for. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk1980 Lincoln SA-250.1521976 Lincoln R3S-6001978 Hobart G-213Hobart Titan 8TA Hefty 2Thermal Arc 211iCutmaster 42
Reply:Definitely a liquid draw tank
Reply:I have no idea what the cross tube and inner wall is for.
