Taylor outside water stove

Iv got a big old taylor water stove behind my house that has developed a leak n the smoke tubes.. seems these tubes r way to thin.. in case u haven't seen one  were talking about a outdoor wood stove that heats like 500 gl of water that is used to heat your home or shop exc. the set up is simple.. u have a fire box in the front and 5 round 4 in pipes that run from your fire box back to a small box witch then exits as smoke out the top, the fire box and tubes all r surrounded by water. my question is  when replacing these tubes how would a person go about cutting the old out witch seem to be welded at each end, to install the new tubes,, I have scadul 40 tube to replace the old ones,  I was kinda thinking take a grinder and grind all the weld off the pipe and hopfully it brake lose... I kinda don't wanna use a torch because im afraid it will make to much mess... what your all ideas
Reply:Grinder might work depending on how much penetration they had if you are going to replace the tubes I would use the torch. Reply:Plasma cutter would be my chose, but like said, you don't know if the steel the tubes are welded to are getting thin. Could you cut out the whole back of the firebox and place the tubes and plate they weld to. Sounds like more work but you would be able to do the tough welds (tubes to plate) outside of the boiler and have nice clean steel to weld to. Then you would just have to weld the firebox back wall in.

Reply:I've replaced the tubes in a couple of Taylors, the Taylors I worked on were stainless, cut them out with a cut off wheel & welded up the replacement tubes. They were a SOB to get at.REAL TRUCKS DON'T HAVE SPARK PLUGS
