To avoid stress on the air inlet of the plasma cutter, I added a holder to my cart and connected the filter with a rubber hose:The holder is a 1/4" rod bend around a tube. The filter is a "Hypertherm Air Filtration Kit", Part No 128647The pressure gauge is tilted to allow easy reading. This is my cart
Reply:Not bad, but shouldn't you of had it facing the other way so it's not sticking out the side of the cart?Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:You are missing something.....  You need 2 gages.  One on each side of the supply to monitor pressure differential.  Everything gets clogged up eventually so the differential is handy.  Like a Filter Minder on a truck intake filter.I would have mounted it behind the machine too.  One snag with your leg and it's bye-bye.
Reply:Nice clean cart - my shop stuff generally is not painted nor nice looking Looks like the cord holder is farther out than the filter, so shouldn't be an issue having it on the side. But I have active kids, so in my shop it would need a heavy steel guard and yellow caution tape - LOLDave J.Last edited by MinnesotaDave; 05-27-2013 at 03:35 PM.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:I will second the not bad but it might have been placed more protected. Teflon tape can gum up the works if it comes loose.
Reply:Great job with everything, and it looks like you knew what you were doing. Most of the cart is wider than the filter, so it's fine. No matter where you put it somebody would have something to say anyway. That setup is top notch! I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys

Reply:@ Jurgen - nice "skeletor" kart design.  With your permission, would like to borrow your concept when building a new kart & converting my existing "80/20" kart rig to a CNC table.  Existing "80/20" design is static and 'sans' C25 and Ar 155CF real-estate.  BTW, planning to "gift" my MillerMatic 175 to my brother for his BDay and rip a MM211 like you have.  Ha!Rock on brah!"Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

If Grandma had balls, she'd be Grandpa.   The filter is fine right where it's at.  Probably a nicer set up I've seen in a long time.  Good job.   "Hey I didn't come to look and learn, I came to turn and burn.... The tape starts beyond the first thread to avoid having the tape in the main air channel. What do you use? I tried thread sealant before, but its only a mess so I used thread tape with 3 tight layers since then.
Reply:http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/me...FYed4AoduhEAKgI like these but I was thinking they were only 80 bucks at the welding store I go to.  The beauty with these is you get excellent water filtration and you can take the cartridge out, let it dry and put it back in even though mine seems to dry out on it's own whenever it's not hooked up.

Reply:Originally Posted by JürgenThat filter was recommended for the plasma cutter.I don't know if this filter is better than the motorguard, but I guess it will work for me.The air is quite dry in my place so the internal filter of the plasma might have been enough.
Reply:Motorguard does not tell you at least I never read anything on it before I bought it that you should change the filter out weekly. I do not know what they base that on but that it was they say.Hydrophilic paper element is how its done. It is just a different and dare I say more efficient method than the typical drain style.Last edited by mikecwik; 05-28-2013 at 09:18 AM.

Reply:Originally Posted by SidecarFlipCandidly, a Motorguard isn't really necessary unless you are running the air supply (compressor) a lot, which I do because I have other compressed air intensive uses.  Ocassional use of the compressor and the receiver staying cool (condensing entrained water/oil vapor in the receiver itself, goes a long way toward moisture reduction post plasma.BTW, Never use a roll of crapper papaer in lieu of a Motorguard filter.  The tirlet paper will shed fibers and thats hell on consumables.

Reply:x2 on the Motorgard filter.  Condensation in the rubber supply line is considerable even if traps and such are used upstream, the Motorgard is the final line of defense, and it works.  My hose is around 50' long, and there will be condensation in it."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
