I am wanting to get a horizontal/vertical bandsaw. Tractor Supply has a Clarke brand one that I could buy and not have to worry about paying for shipping from, say, Northern Tools. Anyone have it or know about it if it is a good lasting machine?
Reply:Clarke has decent equipment. I think most of the HF, Northerntool, Tractor supply is outsourced units. I have the Clarke roll, shear, brake. I'm happy with it.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I have had a Clarke 4x6 as well as 2 HF ones. The HF ones are still cutting and the Clarke is in the dumpster. Now i cut 1,000's of parts with mine and most people won't cut in a lifetime what i cut in a week with mine. The Clarke cut good but the gears just wore out not one set but two of them. So i scrapped it. You may not have that problem ever. Here is my Yahoo group with lots of how to cut special cuts that you may run into.http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sawking/I am building now a USA made copy of the HF 4x6 saw i still have just changing a few things to suit...BobBob WrightSalem, Ohio Birthplace of the Silver & Deming Drillhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbend10k/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sawking/1999 Miller MM185 w/ Miller 185 Spoolmate spoolgun |
