Hey. I recently got a new job with a company that needed a fabricator welder for repairing trucks and heavy equipment that get damaged when they are used. My question is what tools are good to have? Like 4 1/2 grinder (which make and model would your recommend) An air hammer (any thought on if I need this) C" Clamps? ...?The reason I ask is because with this new job I need to provide my own tools. My last job provided all tools. What I did before was a bit different then this. I mean they have welders and torch setups. But what are some things that I should have as personal tools for myself? Any suggestions would be helpful.
Reply:Without knowing the extent of what you would be doing its hard to say. I would say a good4.5 grinder, and a 6 inch grinder for cutting. A needle scaler would be a must for rusty heevilly painted crap. Prybars and hammers. Angle open end wrenches for hoses. Big adjustable and pipe wrenches. I could go on and on and help you spend lots of money. Maybe some of the other guys that work there could fill you in as to what you need. Whatever you get try to find American made for anything that can break and hurt you. Best of luck.
