Here are some pictures I have of my ar welding today (first time I've done it ever). Running 60v @85 amps on 7018 electrode, 1/8" note sure though. Opinions and thoughts? Sorry for bad pics, gotta clean them up better to,or row at work.
Reply:They look surprisingly good for having the amps that low, assuming you are correct that was 1/8" 7018 @ 85 amps. I would have expected that to be 3/32" rods the way those look at 85 amps. Usually 1/8" 7018 is in the 115-140 amp range. Beads look very long and narrow to me. On average a full rod will give you 6-8" of weld. those look to be at least 8" long. If you are getting more weld than that, you are going to fast. Less and you are going too slow. Those numbers work for both 3/32" and 1/8" rods..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:It probably was 3/32 rods. I didn't ask though, it makes sense though since the low amps.
Reply:Also the metal was probably 6" long just zoomed in on it which makes it look bigger than it really is.
