I see a lot of critiques of people's welds here, and that's been pretty helpful for me as I'm learning how to tig.Can someone show some pics of what is considered an "acceptable" tig weld on steel? I'm not trying to weld stainless or anything, and my project is going to be covered up 100%. I'd like to see what an 'acceptable' weld is. How do I know if my weld would pass the sniff test?(BTW, I'm using the Everlast 140st and will be welding 1/8" steel)

Reply:All flat steel, mostly lap welds, and a couple corner joints. I couldn't tell you exactly what type of steel, all I know is that its not stainless or aluminum.I'd like to know how I can tell that I've got a solid weld, even if it doesn't look all that great.Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2

Reply:As far as a solid weld goes, if your filling the "Key hole" your weld is pretty solid IMO Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock

Reply:Take a look at this post by Kevin Morin here and see if it helps any. It's on alum tig, but the same basic principals apply with steel.http://weldingweb.com/showpost.php?p...2&postcount=17He has several other good posts like this scattered here and there.
